Deep dives
The Planning Document's Overview
The podcast discusses a detailed planning document referred to as a 'blueprint for murder' that outlines the strategies and supplies needed for committing crimes. It emphasizes a categorization system with headings such as Problems, Supplies, Dump Site (DS), and Target (TRG). The author of the document expresses concerns about traceability with the supplies, indicating a meticulous and calculated approach to avoiding detection. A list of supplies, including items such as police scanners, lye, cutting tools, and gloves, reveals the dark intentions behind this meticulous document.
Psychological Insights Into the Criminal Mind
The podcast delves into the psychological profiling of the individual behind the document, drawing comparisons to other infamous serial killers like BTK. The analysis suggests that the listed items reflect a desire to control victims and potentially dismember them, hinting at a sadistic nature. It explores the implications of certain items, such as ratchet cargo straps and burn cans, symbolizing both restraint and the destruction of evidence post-crime. This discussion paints a chilling picture of how the author prepared psychologically and physically for committing these acts.
Dump Sites and Target Selection
Another critical aspect focuses on the clear identification of dump sites and potential victim profiles within the planning document. The cryptic labels like 'DS-1 Mill Road' suggest premeditated locations for disposing of bodies, aligning with the known details of certain victims. It also reveals an alarming trend where specific characteristics, such as size and ethnic background, were considered while selecting targets, indicating a calculated method to overpower victims. This strategic approach further emphasizes the forethought that the criminal put into his actions, making it easier for him to evade detection.
Post-Crime Procedures and Covering Tracks
The podcast elaborates on the post-event strategies outlined in the planning document, underscoring how the author intended to destroy evidence. Items like 'burn gloves' and 'dispose of pics' reveal a clear understanding of forensic practices, implying an awareness of law enforcement procedures. The inclusion of instructions to change tires before leaving a crime scene highlights the lengths to which the killer was willing to go to minimize trace evidence. This meticulousness establishes a disturbing level of foresight and preparation aimed at evading capture after committing heinous acts.
Investigative Breakthroughs and Ongoing Investigations
Towards the end, the podcast discusses the investigative breakthroughs and how law enforcement were eventually able to connect the dots leading back to the suspect. Connections are made regarding the suspect’s dark green Chevy Avalanche being spotted near crime scenes, which later became pivotal in linking him to the murders. The discovery of the planning document corroborates long-held suspicions while raising new questions about unidentified victims. As ongoing investigations continue to examine potential ties to other victims, the chilling nature of this meticulous planning remains a focus in uncovering the full extent of the crimes.
The Gilgo Beach Killer, The Long Island Serial Killer, L.I.S.K., and the list of names, and monikers goes on and on. These are all names given to an unidentified serial killer that is responsible for four murders, maybe eleven unsolved homicides, and likely the number could be higher. These names refer to a series of murders that took place from 1996 to 2011 in which the remains of eleven people were found on the South Shore of Long Island, New York. From the public’s perspective, this all started when Shannon Gilbert went missing in the early morning hours of May 1, 2010. Her disappearance triggered the finding of four sets of remains off of Ocean Parkway at Gilgo Beach. These victims became known as the Gilgo Four. By May of 2011 police had discovered six more sets of remains in the area. But the truth is that this nightmare started long before Shannon disappeared.
In 2023, an architect then 59-year old, Rex Heuermann was arrested and initially charged with three of the murders. Just this month he was charged with a seventh homicide. This week in the Garage, we talk about what the police found in Rex Heuermann’s home, specifically a planning document. This is a kill document, one that many are calling Rex Heuermann’s Blue Print for Murder.
