Understanding Social Credit and Trust
Social credit reports highlight the qualities that influence people's trust in each other, much like financial credit reports assess financial reliability. Individuals seek to understand one another's values and principles in personal and professional relationships, which are crucial for determining trustworthiness. For instance, someone looking for a trustworthy adventure companion might prioritize values like spontaneity and reliability, while a business partner would need to evaluate shared moral standards. Clarifying these values helps individuals determine who they can count on, emphasizing the necessity of knowing oneself before assessing others.
Clarifying Personal Values
Identifying personal values is essential for understanding what drives individual behaviors and decisions. Various values such as honesty, curiosity, adventure, and achievement resonate differently with people, revealing their priorities in life and their interactions with others. It is crucial for people to reflect on what they genuinely value, as this self-awareness guides both personal relationships and professional collaborations. Discerning one's values not only facilitates better connections with others but also aids in finding compatibility in shared endeavors.
The Importance of Values in Relationships
Values significantly influence interpersonal relationships—both personal and professional. Participants in discussions often reveal their beliefs, which can reflect their core values, even controversial ones. For example, a member of a group may express a questionable justification for theft, leading others to reconsider their willingness to collaborate with him, regardless of whether he practices it. Such conversations underscore the necessity of understanding others' values, as conflicts in moral standards can lead to breakdowns in trust and communication.
In this episode Social Credit Report: The Qualities Everyone Wants To Know About Each Other. With anyone you care about or are interested in caring about or relying on, you want to know what they are about. What they value. Which is ultimately, what you can count on. Think about it like a social credit report. A credit report tries to measure if you can be counted on financially. People try to seek out our values as a social credit report. They want to know what they can trust. We generally want to know if we can trust someone with the general morals and ethics we deem important. But it’s not all about morality necessarily. If you want a drinking or partying buddy, then you want to know if you can trust that at most any time, they will join you. If you like fighting at bars then you are looking for…a certain set of values. If you want someone to join you on a moments notice for a sketchy, unplanned and relatively unsafe adventure out in the mountains, you can count on me. But knowing that, do you want to do business with me? These are the things we wonder about each other. Are you clear about your own values? That’s the show.
