MPOCs Vaccination Challenges in Africa

Access to vaccines against MPOCs has been a critical issue in Sub-Saharan Africa, particularly highlighted by the recent efforts in Nigeria. Prior to the arrival of vaccines, there was virtually no access despite a significant number of MPOCs cases in the region in 2022. The logistical challenges of administering these vaccines include the need for advanced cold storage and training healthcare workers on unique delivery methods. Moreover, there is an emphasis on public education to inform local populations about the new vaccine, as understanding its use is essential to ensure effective vaccination efforts.
