Deep dives
Aligning Values and Gratitude: Finding Purpose in Spirituality
In terms of spirituality, Eduardo emphasizes the importance of expressing gratitude each morning for the things that he values most, such as life, health, love, and peace. This practice helps him focus on what's important and fosters a positive mindset. He also mentions his meditation practice, which helps him maintain a spiritual state of mind. Though he grew up with a nominal Catholic background, Eduardo developed his own belief system, defining God as that which makes everything happen and choosing to believe in God's goodness despite the existence of unanswered questions.
Cultivating Relationships: Finding Joy in Connections
In the realm of relationships, Eduardo's most important relationship is with his wife of 24 years. They share common interests, learn together, and experience fulfillment in each other's company. He values spending time with his family and older friends, as well as building new friendships with individuals who align with his interests and purpose. Eduardo cherishes relationships that encourage personal growth, support learning, and promote mutual improvement.
Prioritizing Health and Wellness: Keys to Vitality
Eduardo recognizes sleep as a fundamental aspect of his physical health and prioritizes going to bed early. He also places importance on nutrition, particularly consuming whole plant-based foods to ensure he gets adequate nutrients. While he has previously experienced a myofascial pain syndrome, he has learned the value of proper ergonomics and exercises to maintain a healthy body. Working out, especially using a peloton, is another way he takes care of his physical well-being.
Balancing Achievement and Fulfillment: Driving Growth Mindset
For Eduardo, achievement is driven by a desire to contribute to making the world a more learning-oriented place. While he sets goals and strives for excellence in his work, he has learned to detach from outcome-focused thinking and prioritize enjoying the process of growth. This mindset allows him to take risks and embrace new opportunities while continuously learning and improving. Eduardo also values spending time on personal interests, such as hiking, reading, and traveling, which bring him joy and inspiration.
