Jo Clubb on the Intersection of Science and Sports

Feb 4, 2022

Performance consultant, writer, and speaker Jo Clubb, has always seen herself as a big science nerd with a deep love for sports.

And though she has worked as a sports scientist for several teams-– including the Buffalo Bills, Buffalo Sabres, and the Brighton & Hove Albion F.C.—Jo wanted to have a wider impact in the sports science industry.

To this end, Jo founded her company, Global Performance Insights. Jo is passionate about driving growth and athletic performance through uncovering scientific insights with the use of research and technology.

Jo joins me today to discuss the evolution of sports science in elite sports.

She shares how a kids’ science show sparked her interest in sports science and describes what led her to work internationally.

She outlines how scientific processes can impact performance and help with objective decision-making.

Jo describes how data can be a vehicle for conversations and connecting the dots for athletes.

And she also explains what having an ‘external sounding board’ entails and underscores the value of diversity of thoughts and ideas.

Performance is interconnected; it is driven by working in an interdisciplinary manner rather than in silos. – Jo Clubb
