Reminder that I do NOT and could never speak for any Black man or woman on their experiences. This episode is simply a reflective one from a White woman's perspective.
Before continuing on with guest episodes, I felt it necessary to touch on the reflections and realizations I've made as a White cis woman, including the internalized racism I've noticed in my own life, color blindness, systemic oppression, white privilege, and more.
I also share some takeaways from informative books I have been reading, including White Fragility by Robin DiAngelo and How to Be an Antiracist by Ibram X. Kendi.
I look forward to including more Black voices and stories on the show in the near future, as well. Stay tuned for those episodes.
This movement is only beginning. I am committed to continuously educating myself, listening to and believing Black voices, being accountable, owning up to my mistakes, and working every day to intentionally be anti-racist.
Black Lives Matter. Black lives are loved, worthy, valued, and needed.
