Tom Burden, the Creator of Grypmat (Featured on Shark Tank), on Growing His $4M Product-Based Business...

Ep #42 - My guest this week is Tom Burden, a former Air Force F-16 weapons mechanic, that went on to create and sell Grypmat, a flexible, non-slip rubber mat he invented to hold tools. Tom raised $700,000 to build his business through Kickstarter and Shark Tank, where one of his backers included Sir Richard Branson.

The Grypmat product has gone on to grace the cover of Time Magazine and led Tom to be featured in the Forbes 30 Under 30. The business has grown to doing $4 million in revenue in 2019, more than double what it brought in during 2018. Tom is now planning an expansion into retail, with a lower-priced, smaller-version of the Grypmat for home mechanics.
