Alderman Vincent Keaveny is Senior Alderman of the City of London Corporation and a partner at the international law firm, DLA Piper. Vincent has held the office of Alderman for the Ward of Farringdon Within since October 2013 - then in 2018/19 he became Sheriff of the City of London. From November, he will take up a new position as Lord Mayor of London. As a lawyer, Vincent specialises in banking and capital market transactions and is Chair of Samuel Wilson’s Loan Trust, a charity which grants loans to young people for establishing and developing new businesses. Vincent says lawyering has taken a bit of a back seat in the lead up to becoming Lord Mayor and during his term, plans to make positive changes to offer opportunity for better social mobility. He wants to see a country full of people allowed to be the best of what they are, unencumbered by perceptions. Vincent strongly believes businesses that encourage diversity become better businesses and says socio-economic diversity is a concern of the city of London. He wants London to be the home of the best global talent.
