Our society is no stranger to depression, anxiety and just everyday struggles of life. Many people want to change their lives, but genuinely have no idea where to start and feel confused on why making these changes is so hard.

To help in overcoming these challenges we are truly honored to have a very special guest, New York Times best selling author, Dr. Nicole LePera (The Holistic Psychologist)! Listen along as Dr. Nicole dives into her story, her background as to how she became a holistic psychologist, and her book, How to Do The Work.

Nicole defines what holistic psychology is and then we dive deep into how important it is to explore what the underlying symptoms or patterns are when it comes to depression, anxiety, etc. When we get to the why, we can begin to do the work that is necessary to begin making changes in our lives.

In today’s episode you will learn:

  • Where do you start? - Remember that this is a journey.
  • Why is the work hard? - We spend most of our day living from the subconscious mind.
  • What is consciousness? - This is becoming aware of ourselves and what is truly happening in our lives.
  • How do you know it’s working? - We change by becoming more aware and more uncomfortable.
  • What is trauma? - Understanding how our experience in certain situations and events shape how we live our lives today.
  • How do we feel safe in our bodies? - Body based practices, such as breathwork.

Dr. Nicole LePera explains that being a self-healer means to do “the work”. Everything starts within ourselves. As SelfHealers, we acknowledge the wholeness within ourselves. We are not broken, rather, we are disconnected from ourselves. It’s simply a part of the process that we peel back the layers of the onion to gain the relationship with ourselves and who we truly are.
