Is Exercise a Prescription for Depression?
The hippocampus is a brain region that continues to birth new cells throughout your lifespan. The volume of how much that happens declines as we age, but if you're regular with exercising, you don't see this natural decline in the size of the hippocampus. We think they may be recruited into existing brain circuitry, or we're not sure. But yes, possibly parts of frontal cortex, they've mapped some cells.
