If you don't understand as the founder whether that person who's speaking on your behalf is thinking like an owner mentality or like an employee you're going to get into some shit that you could have avoided. There are so many talented principal awesome comms people there are also people who are talented but don't really care about the mission and then there are people who might not be a fit entirely for the reasons. Making that distinction up front will save you a world of headaches later on. I just encourage founders like consider that even if you want to go direct you might want to have someone helping you get someone who doesn't just want a job for the sake of having a job Get someone
