Is There Any Difference Between Instructions and Techniques?

There is some noticeable differences between the two styles. As you know, previously you've been learning mainly through instructions. Now i guess weonow at that level, you may be getting people who were showing you stuff that could be on instruction and just ahead of time. Or was there any instances where it was techniques that you maybe would have overlooked on an instructionl but it was presented in a different mannert had you give it a second look?
