Video Versus Direct Laryngoscopy for Tracheal Intubation in Critically Ill Adults
The study looked at video versus direct laryngoscopy for tracheal intubation in critically ill adults and it really looks to explore the sorts of devices that we should be using first line. During the trial there are about 400 intubators that were included with just over 90% of them being performed by an emergency medicine resident or critical care fellow operator. The primary outcome was successful intubating in the first attempt i.e. first pass success. And it saw no statistically significant difference in severe complications such as soft gel-like aspiration around 21%.
