The Evolution of Memory in Mouse Cells

The paradigm that cells could evolve over and over is certainly true, but it just represents a tiny fraction of what these germinal centers are doing in the mice. So we went back into different models and we looked at memory D cells and influenza and things like that. We found that if you immunize one foot of the mouse or if you infect it with influenza, you make a ton of memory. And they're picked from among the very best of those memory cells.
