The Risk of Adverse Events in Hospitalized Older Adults With Elevated Blood Pressure
The study looked at patients 65 years and older who were hospitalized between 2015 and 2017 with non-cardiovascular diagnoses. About a fifth of them received blood pressure treatment in the first 48 hours of hospitalization. They found that intensive treatment was associated with a greater risk of the primary composite outcome at 8.7% versus 6.9%.
