Metformin is a known inhibitor of complex one of the electro transport chain. It may have an anti-inflammatory effect and lower lipolysis, which means less free fatty acid blood. But long-term studies with metformin have not shown the expected benefit in terms of reducing risks of cancer or diabetes.
