Laughter is hardwired. It's a universal trait, you see it every society, every civilization, every culture has some form of laughter and humor, except the Germans. Why did it evolve in the brain? How did it evolve through natural selection? I'd like to conclude with a quotation from my previous book, Phantoms in the Brain: There is something distinctly odd about hairless primate that has evolved into a species which can look back over its own origins.
