The total scale and quality of energy for the human enterprise was increasing every single year other than the 1930s 2020-2009. As we have fewer of those exogenous laborers fossil laborers added to our economy is a question I think about a lot. The population stayed under half a billion give or take until the industrial revolution, but went from a half a billion to eight billion in 300 years.
