This chapter examines the complex perspective of Muslim philosophers in colonial India towards the Mughals and their political past, highlighted through the analysis of a painting depicting the Passing of Shah Jahan. It also explores a scholarly exchange between two intellectuals on the interpretation of the Ain-Ekbadi, a book documenting the political philosophy of Akbar, the third Mughal emperor.
