Are You Using Research to Drive Productivity?
It's something that I've heard a bit as well and it seems to be a difficult one to demonstrate in advance unlike something where you're testing in production. It almost sounds like the organization has to take a leap of faith at least initially that research will deliver the benefits that you're speaking of. Yes and you do see this on teams that work on multiple projects again return to games if you look at the development of Halo they ran very few studies right at the end of development and then as the titles went on they were running more studies earlier.
