How Early Is Too Early?
In an hour long call, you probably have enough time to show a demo. If you only have 20 minutes, that's not going to do you justice. And depending on what product you're selling, for us, we're selling a product that VPs of N's, CTO's often implement. So if you get on a call and you're being asked to discovery questions for 30 minutes and you don't see anything, you're probably going to be pretty peeved.
