The Importance of Grounding
When we are just regulated and we're in a state of fear, we're no longer present in our body. Our thought took us somewhere. It took us to this place that's imagined or it took us to our past to an experience that has happened before. So the body is so dysregulated, it is not here in the present. And I've learned to ground myself as a way to cope because the mind does that trick on you because it's survival. The mind says, remember when it happened with that last person is probably going to happen again with this person. And I have to say, no, I am right here. I'm going to take a sip of water.
