Are We Less Probably to Notice Unethical Behavior as We Go Along?

Do we notice things to a lesser degree if they occur slowly over time? I think that there's some real evidence that that it happens, particularly in this type of scenario. Leaders do have a special role in creating the norms that govern society around us. We can't necessarily stop the next Bernie made off, but hopefully we can build that system around him that won't let that be go unnoticed or without kind of some pushback on that.
