I think it's really easy to romanticize the whole idea of sacrificing, of becoming such a specialized beast that everything else follows by the wayside. You look at those cyclists, you pride themselves on looking like absolute skeletons, some of the climbers. Just to go do it, like have fun, you've done all this work to build this physically capable, healthy body, go actually have fun with it. Go sign up for something that doesn't support your training objectives at all, or go do something that sounds antithetical to what you're training for.
