If you are exposed to artificial light and blue wavelengths or green wavelengths, you kill your body's ability to synthesize this hormone. It's not only related to sleep; it's one of the body's most important antioxidants. The direction of the light into the retina after dark is particularly bad in terms of disrupting our circadian rhythm.
