Is the Book of Enoch a Prediction of the Future?

Do we know whether the people reading these and listening to them being recounted actually believed that they were for want of a better word true? Or was it more a comforting story to make yourself feel better in a time of persecution? This is a question a lot of scholars have asked. And ultimately it's very hard to know because we don't have any book reviews from the time. No readers reports.
