How to Pass the Guard and Keep Your Legs Far Away From Your Opponent's Legs

If you let your opponent put a lot of weight on that, it really not only does it hinder your movement, but it prevents you from bringing your elbows and your knees back together. One of the strategies that I like to do when passing the guard is try to pass all the way to North South. And then my goal from there is usually I drop my head right on their hip, right on the ground next to the hip, and I drop my shoulder right on their abdomen.
