The Effects of a Low Carb Diet on Performance
The two diets we were looking at was a high carbohydrate north of 350 grams of carbohydrate intake per day at 60% of cake house to a low carbohydrate diet, which is less than 50 grams round. And they did that for four weeks. Now the slightly higher and low carb group by just the ecological nature of the diet was 30 grams higher, which isn't massive but not insignificant. But what was in performance? So one mile time trial to max effort, and then six by 800 meter sprints. We also controlled for compliance. It takes at least three weeks or greater to actually start seeing some normalization of things like ketone metabolites, post diet switch.
