The Role of the General Assembly in the United Nations Security Council Reform
There's a sense amongst UN members that we are entering a period where the Security Council is going to be less efficient. The General Assembly often steps up, at least in part, to fill the vacuum during deadlocked situations like the Suez Crisis of 1956. So there are good historical precedents for the General Assembly taking on a greater role in peace and security issues. We were seeing glimmers of this even before Russia's aggression against Ukraine.
