The Impact of Mandatory Diversity Training on Diversity
When training around inclusion or diversity is mandatory, it almost implicitly, even explicitly, creates that us versus them dicodome and create some kind of controversial or adversarial relationship. The researchers in this case found that mandatory diversity training actually has an adverse impact on increasing some types of diversity among managerial and leadership levels. Conversely, when that training is voluntary, when it's compelling, the impact on black men, hispanic men, asian men,. asian women is phenomenal.
