The Effects of Race on Health
Dr. Batiste: Growing up, I didn't have a lot. Utilities always being turned off. Single mom, you know, fast food. Just because that's what she could afford. If not, it was junk food in the cupboard and it ballooned me all the way up to eventually 420 pounds. And so I think about being 420 pound me in that kind of financial jackpot. You know, I would think then that my risk for all of these diseases that are completely preventable in a lot of cases would be far greater than it is today.
