I think one of the common pitfalls I see is that we look at space and you think okay I'll just pick one metric from each category and call it a day. And it is a shortcut but that's not really the intention. We suggest three different categories is kind of the minimum, but really we talked about space being that it's a set of lenses to help you see thingsreally. It's more of a guidance and set of principles versus something that's very prescriptive which to a group of leaders don't have a lot of time.
In this episode, Abi is interviewed by Laura Tacho about the new paper he co-authored with Dr. Nicole Forsgren, Dr. Margaret-Anne Storey, and Dr. Michaela Greiler. Abi and Laura discuss the pitfalls of some of the common metrics organizations use, and how the new paper builds on prior frameworks such as DORA and SPACE to offer a new approach to measuring and improving developer productivity.
