General Relativity Is Not a Theory, It Is a Prediction
Newtonian gravity said that gravity is this force that varies as the product of the masses is involved divided by the square of the distance between the masses. General relativity reached beyond what Newton was specifically interested in, across the whole solar system and into every single where in the universe. It could not explain things like modern day examples of gravitational lensing or the existence of neutron stars or black holes but it did provide a far more detailed explanation than Newton's.
