Is There an Effect of Absolute BMI on Obesity?

This field is young and complicated. There's some data pointing in different directions, but this is just kind of an interesting approach to the question of like, how can we try to tease apart impacts of stigma? One way would be simply asking people if they feel stigmatized about their weight. And so ultimately they're trying to test whether a positive deviation from the mean in your reference group does that incur the deleterious consequences of obesity’s stigmatization or become related with an increased risk of death.
