The Essence of a Thing and Its Existence Are Not Separated
The essence of a thing and its existence are as inseparable as the radius and circumference of a circle or trilaterality. But we cannot in the same way explain how the essence of one of the things of our experience is conjoined with its existence. A thing can impart or add something, or indeed do anything at all for that matter, unless it first exists. So here and now, there must be some cause which adds or impartsexistence to Fido's essence - otherwise he wouldn't exist any more than he did before he was conceived. All of these things are true not only before but also after they come into being.
