Increasing the Imports of Moroccan Fresh Produce

Since Brexit, we've tripled imports of Moroccan fresh produce. Supply across Europe is still described as very patchy and sporadic. Some UK retailers are now venturing out onto what you call the spot market. It's with this backdrop that the UK's supermarket culture came into sharp focus. Long-term contracts with suppliers consistent but low prices started to flow towards the better prices. And it wasn't simply down to price. Other factors were influencing decisions of suppliers already under financial pressure. A former senior buyer for one of the UK's biggest supermarkets says big questions remain about its future.
