The Cost of Obsession
I think the simplest way to split it positive versus negative is if it's an act of creation. Most negative obsessions are consumption, it's selfish. But the positive obsessions are usually some form of output. I would say that's more release, not consumption. You've never apologized for being obsessed. Pull an all-nighter, work out for three hours, finish a book in one sitting, positive obsession is a gift disguised as a curse. How do we know what we're most passionate about is in fact a positive obsession? Is it really, can it really be that objective?
