Customer Success - Is There a Single Formula for Success?

Yelp was doing close to 600 million in revenue when i took over. We were billing about forty million monthly out of the local segment. The formula that worked at that time period was probably a lot more similar to what start ups experience in general. You do things that are intentionally not scalable, so you can go extremely deep with your customer base and really deeply understand every problem that you need to solve for your customer. I don't think there actually is one single formula for success that applies to all businesses. Every product is different, every business is different, and businesses go through different life cycles where different formulas might make sense.
