Frank Keeney and the Miners Strike
Frank keeney emerged as a leader among the miners because the union was perceived to be moving slowly, even reluctantly. One day he demanded help from the u m w to arrange mass meetings in the strike district. The national union had put down word that it was too dangerous. Their organizers were to avoid the area. And so when keeney heard that mother jones was in town, he sought her out to see if she would come. She says, i've been thinking of invading that place for some time. So she told frank keeney that she would be there t Tuesday night and to spread the word that there was going to be a mass meeting.
