The Best Theory of How Effort Works
I'm curious what you think makes some tasks effortful. I know obviously like if you're running or something that's physically effortful and you're burning more calories, but it's not obvious to me why watching a difficult show on Netflix is different from doing math problems. The idea of persistence, which Angela Duckworth, renamed grit. Overconfidence can actually work against you. You have to balance those two things really well. So yeah, the competition here isn't going to be as easy as people make it out to be. And we tend to want the most for the least.
