The Magic of Tapering
The whole point about tapering is that you can feel good on race day. Generally speaking, we are looking at a performance improvement of two to three % compared to not tapering. That is running a four hour marathon and a three hour and 52 minute marathon. Those percentages add up, especially in long distance races. Tapering gives you to 20 % increases in your power, your muscular function and your strength. Up to a 20 % reduction in the markers of stress and over training.
