Is Zone One a Five Zone System?
The way we recruit muscle fibers is a basic sequential pattern similar to the stick gears in a manual car, right? You're at first gear. And as you accelerate the RPMs go higher and higher and high and get to the 7, 8000 RPM, you can continue on that gear into shift to second gear. That's when fat is not enough, is not fast enough to produce ATP and you need to produce ATP from a faster source like glucose coming from glycogen and carbohydrate. When you have a lot of flux of glucose, the muscles cannot keep up with that oxidation of pyruids. But anyways, you produce lactate and that's where you see that lactate starts going up
