The History of the Iron Industry in Britain

In 1709, a quicker iron monger named Abraham Darby started smelting iron using coke instead of charcoal. Coke is a form of coal coal that gets baked in an airless furnace so impurities like water, coal gas, and coal tar are removed. He also invented new molds made out of sand. As a result of his work, a century of advancement was made in the iron industry.
