How Do You Frame Against Your Opponent?

When you're learning guard retention and in the recovery phase, you have to be able to get back to your elbow. You've got one hand framing against your opponent or one arm bracing against the ground. Do you like to straight arm? Or do you like to collapse your arm so that you're using your forearm against your opponent? That's a really good question. It's very situational. Like if he's wearing a ghee, I might be using the ghee. But if it's like a situation where he's real close to me and he's double-legging me, I'm going to usually establish like a collar tie or a goose neck position.
