Authenticity Is One Consideration That Determines How We Should Live

A lot of people believe that people in some sense, ought to be authentic. I think i am on record now as very sceptical about the existence of authenticity as a personal ideal. There are certain sort of distinctive goods that might be lost if we were always trying to be as morally good as possible. The thought being that if one just donates to wherever givewell recommends that one dontes, then one loses something of the kind of authenticity that can be achieved by giving to a cause that is personally meaningful. Somthing that definitely could lead one to resist certain kinds of effective altruist conclusions.
