A cycle of 5k, 10k training done at least once a year is critical to ultimately getting your best results in the half marathon and marathon. You have to be an athlete that focuses on all distances at various times so that you can become well rounded. The faster you can run a 5k or 10k, the fasteryou can run a half marathon and therefore the faster you can running a marathon. It's all aerobic racing.
