CHAPTER

The Importance of Eating Less Meat

We use half of the world's habitable land for agriculture. We also won't solve climate change without changing our food systems in some way. Food production is just not responsible for between a quarter and a third of greenhouse gas emissions. 70% of fresh water withdrawals are used for farming. Like when people think about what are they imagine they're like showering or brushing their teeth but most of it's agriculture. Right. It's the leading driver of deforestation. The leading driver of biodiversity loss. And we have problems of overfishing. Again that's about producing food. So to me it just sits at the heart of all of these issues. Fascinating. That's very cool.
