How to Sit and Feel Safe

Your brain has developed a learned association sitting equals pain. When you sit, that kind of like volume knob in your brain turns up and you're interpreting these sensations through a lens of danger. So I want to see if you could keep focusing on that nice physical sensation of the breath coming in and out. You might have a little bit of anticipatory anxiety because you're actually sitting, but there's nothing dangerous about it. And just enjoy the moment. The act of attending to this really nice sensation is the single best way of communicating messages of safety to your brain. It doesn't even necessarily need to be the sensation in your back, but we want to give your brain practice attending the sensations
