Sitting as the new smoking is a phrase put out by James Levine of the Mayo Clinic. Harvard defines sedentary behavior as anytime our bodies fall below one and a half metabolic equivalence. If we sit down in a chair, we tend to fall below that level sitting on the couch or driving your car. The goal is to be active as possible when you're at home but don't spend too much time doing it.
