The Effects of Creatine on Training Performance

There's some really cool research in using a rat model, and they used what's called chronic low frequency stimulation. They would do it for long periods of time, so they actually did it for 12 hours a day. The group that took creatine helped to preserve the fast twitch characteristics of the muscles in those rats compared to the non-creating group.
